    THE CAMPS

    Due to a COVID summer of unknowns, we have made the difficult decision to suspend our in-studio Summer Camp programming this year.Ā  This was not easy for us to do, but we feel that it is in the best interest for everyone — because of this we have shifted our programming to the virtual platform.Ā  This is new territory for us, and we have some fun projects planned that will bring our hands-on experience right into your living room.

    DETAILS

    • Camp can be purchased by the full-week only.Ā  We are unable to offer drop-in days this summer.Ā  Each day, campers will sign in for a two-hour zoom session.Ā  Each session will include 2-3 projects guided by our camp veterans ā€“ Ms. Rosie and Ms. Lynn.Ā  Camps are limited to 12 zoom logins.
    • All supplies and materials are included in your tuition and need to be picked up at the studio on the Friday or Saturday prior to your virtual camp.Ā  If you would like, you can purchase additional supply kits for siblings and they are able to share a zoom login.
    • We will be running a modified version of all five of our summer camp themes.Ā  We will do our best to switch out activities for repeated weeks of our virtual camps, but unlike our in-person camps, you should anticipate seeing some overlap if you repeat weeks.
    • We do get a little messy at times, so plan to prepare your work area ahead of time and make sure your child is dressed accordingly.Ā  We will give you heads up of what will be needed when you pick up your supply kit.

    Nature In Chicago

    Campers spend the week exploring all the fun that nature has to offer without ever having toĀ leave the city. Daily themes include Pollinators,Ā Urban Birding, Chicago Tree ID, Chicago Wildlife, Houseplants, Compost, andĀ Sustainable Food.

    Sustainable Kids

    Campers take a deep dive in to what it means to be sustainable. We will meet experts who work in a variety of sustainable careers, learn the ins and outs of the CTA, take a field trip to Lake Michigan to test the water quality and clean the beach, plant a kitchen garden, and practice ways that kids can be sustainable at home.

    Animals Around The World

    Campers spend the week exploring animals around the globe and the different ecosystems that they call home. We will travel to all seven continents and see howĀ animals live and play around the world. Daily themes include Oceans, Deserts, Rainforest, Wetlands, the Polar Regions, Forests and Grasslands.

    Our Changing Planet

    Campers explore how pollutionĀ and climate change are affecting life in Chicago and around the world. KidsĀ will walk through some of the real-world problems facing our planet and work towardĀ finding solutions that protect our earth. Daily themes include Chicago and Climate Change, Food Miles, Sustainable Menus, Energy, Carbon Emissions, Water Pollution, Weather, and Climate.

    Endangered Species

    Campers will explore what is causing plants and animals to be vulnerable and what we can do to help. We will start the week learning what extinction is by studying the dinosaurs and will spend the rest of the week traveling to different continents to understand the different reasons why extinction occurs and what kids can do to protect endangered animals.
