Nature-Based Programs for Kids in San Diego County

Green Explorers Club has expanded to San Diego County! Our offerings now include kids’ camps, family book clubs, after-school programs, school gardens and a variety of nature-based educational programs tailored for children ages 4 to 10.

Through hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and a touch of imagination, our dynamic programs empower kids to discover the wonders of their local ecosystem.

We focus on life sciences and sustainable living practices, helping young explorers cultivate habits that will benefit both them and our planet for years to come.

San Diego Camps

Summer camp is where Green Explorers Club shines, and we are so excited to be bringing our camps to San Diego County! Campers learn about nature and sustainability through hands-on projects and life science experiments that help them understand and navigate our changing planet. Campers will explore topics like endangered species, climate change, gardening, local birds, environmental leaders, energy, weather, pollution, America’s National Parks, and ecosystems around the world.

Book Clubs

Book Clubs are designed for families with kids ages 4-7 and their parents or a guardian. Groups meet in our studio locations, local libraries, and various neighborhood venues throughout San Diego County for a fun-filled hour of hands-on projects inspired by award-winning picture books.

How Family Book Club Works

During Book Club, our instructors begin by reading a picture book to the group that sets the stage for the project. Families then move to their workstations where the instructor distributes materials and highlights the connections between the book's themes and the activity.

Then the magic happens—children and their guardians team up to bring their creative project to life! This lively format not only immerses kids in fun and meaningful environmental education but also strengthens family bonds and builds a vibrant community spirit.

School Programs

At Green Explorers Club, we offer engaging, hands-on after-school programs and also partner with local schools and organizations to provide curriculum creation, and school garden programs.

School Garden Programs

Our School Garden Program helps San Diego teachers and staff build school gardens from scratch and maintain them year after year. Our staff works with your team to create a garden space perfect for your campus, as well as a comprehensive curriculum set that includes weekly one-hour lessons for teachers and students to grow the garden from seeds, track and identify pollinators, compost garden waste, and learn about regular gardening maintenance tasks like watering, weeding, and monitoring plant growth. Pricing is customized to fit each school’s needs, and Green Explorers Club staff working closely with teachers and administrators to provide on-site visits, tailored garden plans, and budget estimates. It is best to start your garden planning in Winter, so you are prepared by the Spring. Want our help for your school garden? Click the button below to get started.

After-School Programs
(ages 4-10)

Our after-school programs are tailored to inspire a love for nature and protecting the planet. In addition to in-person programs coming soon to our studio location, we also offer California schools and organizations who serve students ages 4-10 access to our full curriculum sets for 8-week, 10-week, and 12-week programs. All of our curriculum sets are organized by seasons and contain local projects that include plants and animals living alongside all of us in San Diego County. Email erin@greenexplorersclub.com to learn more about developing your own custom curriculum sets for your students.

Downloadable Curriculum (Grades PK-3rd)

We partner with local organizations across San Diego County to develop custom lesson plans for kids in grades PK through 3rd grade. Our online collection is a series of hand-picked favorites that were born in our summer camps and studio programs. We take a survey each year from our students and curate curriculum sets based on their very honest feedback and top ranked activities. Each 45- to 60-minute session includes 1-2 interactive projects and gives kids the opportunity to explore, discover, and connect with the environment in a fun and meaningful way.
