Students take their first step at starting a garden by planting seeds! In this unit, students sort seeds and try to identify their favorite foods by the shape and size of its seeds. Next students will take the seed sowing process from start to finish by starting their own seeds indoors in a tray, and they will end the day making garden markers that match the seeds they have started in class.  60 min | Ages 5-10

This download comes with a detailed lesson plan and a supply list to gather your materials. Also included in this download is the digital file for the seed sorting activity sheet, and a bonus garden chart for teachers who are starting their own school gardens. We recommend buying materials at least 5-7 days before your class and to plan about 3-4 hours of prep depending on the size of your class.
